Buyer and package

Developer, producer, consumer and buyer - what are their interrelations in usage with package? Requirements and wishes of buyer play great importance especially in the recent time, who in the end byes products and uses a package. But it is also important to train the buyer, increase his level of information about packaging, its peculiarities and advantages. And this should be done by the producer and consumer of package with a help of widely known methods. Today there is monopoly of famous trade marks and transnational enterprises at the market. This problem is the consequence of globalization processes. Competition at the market and success in this competition depends in much respects on the development of packaging in the country. There are a lot of examples in Ukraine when the market of foodstuff products is filled by the domestic products producers of which use modern, effective and convenient package. Regarding waste of used package the experts suggested different points of view on the question who must participate in collection, separation and recovery of packaging waste.

«Can Pack» in Ukraine

In October 2003 in Vishgorod, Kyiv region, the plant for producing aluminium beverage cans was opened. At this plant the investment company «Can Pack S.A.» installed equipment made in U. S. A., EU countries and Poland, at which the novel technological decisions in packaging industry are used. After the full investment the plant in Vishgorod can produce up to 2 billion cans per years. Basing on the experience of polish market, «Can Pack S.A.» is planning to create the system of reverse usage of beverage cans at the territory of Ukraine by organising the receiving points of can collection.

Materials

Barrier properties of paper for foodstuffs packing

To some packaging materials used for foodstuffs packing the high demands regarding the resistance of grease and moisture penetration, i. e. to their grease and humidity resistance are made. Sufficiently many ways and methods of improving the barrier properties of the paper packs have been developed in the world. But all these methods have not found wide application because of high price and complication of the manufacturing method by the multicomponent compositions, necessity of purchasing the specific equipment. In Ukrainian scientific-research institute of paper in the laboratory environment the researches in studying the influence of correlation of composition components, parameters and conditions of preparation and application on the surface of paper, quantity of applicable additive to the complex of structural-physical properties and grease penetration of obtained material have been carried out. The result of carried out researches is developed at the laboratory and industrial environment new type of grease and moisture resistant paper.

Glues for cardboard drums and cartridges

In Ukraine, the production of conical and cylindrical cartridges of cardboard by the method of spiral winding have been carried out for several years. Clipboard and special liquid glue is mainly used for their production. The work in creation of compounding and the technology of obtaining the glue for manufacturing the cardboard cartridges has been accomplished in JSC “VNIICHIMPROJEKT”. The results of work is developed on the base of natural polymers ecologically clean glue according to the TU U 24.6-00209651-318-2003.

Glue lamination (technologies and possibilities)

The article is devoted to the technology and possibility of the packing films lamination. From the corresponding types of lamination the glue lamination is the most modern type. The glue lamination is divided into two main types: dissolving and indissolving. The technologies of dissolving and indissolving lamination are stated at the article, the advantages and disadvantages are defined, as well as the characteristics of equipment for lamination and the ways of their enhancement. Today the process of lamination is very popular and important, however it contradicts the laws of environment protection. That’s why the products of multy-layer laminates require new technologies and package recycling of such packaging.

Optimization of packing into the transit pack

For ensuring the effective transporting of packed products the dimensions of transit packs are unified. At the same time the dimensions of the consumer packaging can be optional and that’s why there are plenty of variants of packing placement on the transit packs. The results of researches and method of providing the effective filling of transit packs by the consumer packaging in the three-dimensional space of its internal volume depending on its specific dimension are given in this article.

Peculiarities of glass packaging treatment

Wide application of vacuum and steam-vacuum technologies of packaging prove their efficiency from the point of view of the interests of the shelf live prolongation of finished products. However the physics of influence of these technologies remains not studied by far. The author sees the extruder technologies as certain analogue of phenomena, which have a place during the vaccumization of products, In other words, transient formation and abstraction of water vapour leads to the effect of microflora decreasing. The results of experimental researches have shown that during the providing certain vaccumization conditions, the decrease of microflora amount is reached almost at the level of 100%. The results of analytical and experimental researches of the vaccumization operations of glass packs are given at the article.

Improving the weigh batchers for granular foodstuffs

Prospective tendency of batch measuring equipment improving is development of new high performance weigh batchers. For providing the accuracy of batch dosing and performance improving of facility the process of weigh volume filling is realizing at two stages: rough batching - intensive product feeding to the weighing volume; precise batching - product is feeding with minimal intensity. Analytical and experimental researches of the operation of batch formation by the gravimetric method are stated at the article. On the base of analysis of results of researches it is estimated that batching accuracy of granular products is determined first of all by the parameters of transporting system.

Conveyer facilities in packaging production lines

Transport systems of packaging lines consist of different structural layout conveyers, tras-shipping and orienting facilities, goods accumulation facilities etc. In a great majority of transport systems of packaging lines the conveyer facilities are installed at the places of junction of similar and dissimilar transporting machines. Reloading of goods can be carried out as at one as at different levels. In process of goods reloading at one level the irregular or complex goods motion takes place that considerably complicates the determination of rational parameters of such operation. Peculiarities of the rational parameters determination method of the goods conveying procedure on conditions that simultaneous placement of its bearing areas at several bearing surfaces of conveyers are stated at the article.

Russian market of packaging and packaging equipment

Russian market of packaging and packaging equipment made up $3,5 billion in 2002. From them, market machines and equipment accounted for $425 million. Modern manufacture of packaging materials and goods in Russian Federation consists of four main segments: metal - 8%, glass -17%, polymers -36%, paper and cardboard - 39%. Import volume of packaging equipment and spare parts for it made up $ 374,7 million in 2002. Equipment was delivered to Russia from 68 countries and sold to 47 ones. Data of packaging industry development of Russia according to the principal segments are given in the article.

Polystyrene packaging for foodstuff products

Packaging materials, especially polymers, pose hazard of penetration of harmful ingredients-monomers, heavy metals, catalysts, stabilizers etc. into the product. This process requires constant control and introduction of strict accesses relating penetration of harmful ingredients into the foodstuff products. Intensity of styrene migration and other low molecular substances from the polystyrene polymers depends on their solubility in water, in different model environments and foodstuff products. Temperature intensifies this process. Article describes the results of researches in determination of the necessity degree of the foodstuff products storage in the polystyrene packaging during the established term. According to the results of researches it is determined that for the polystyrene packaging one can recommend its usage for any foodstuff products with the humidity higher 15% except of spirit-based ones because the residual monomer styrene has good solubility in ethanol and its solutions.

Multiple package for beer

Today, in some extent, accent displacement from the original design of beer bottles to the originality of multiple package design is observed. Multiple package for beer can be produced from the conventional cardboard, craft-cardboard, backing micro corrugated cardboard. Depending on design three basic types of multiple package is marked out: · package in the form of tray with the handle; · package in the form closed or semienclosed container; · package in the form of device with the bottle neck fixed on it. The article gives the analysis of usage of these three types of package.

Festive packing should possess all the amenities of fair princess. The salesmen of well-dressed, festive packing begin to prepare to the holiday boom in advance. At the arsenal of any present decorator or packer there are a lot of materials and accessories. For example: many coloured paper and various polymer films; bells, crystals, decorated leaves, filling material and many other. All this is used for turning the working days into the holiday.

Ukraining design - myth or reality?

Long, long time ago… (about twenty years ago), there was lack of sex without exception in the country. And children (no one knows from where they appeared) collected on the quiet the labels from «their chewing gums». The artists-designers in blue overalls have been making «technical esthetics» intensively and for a long time, standing for months in front of drawing boards and smoking in the smoking-room for years… However, «the phantom of capitalistic design» have been already wandering at the loud corridors of scientific-research institutes and breaking in bad faith to the small «hospice» rooms of soviet student youth. The years have passed (about twenty years). And yesterday students stepped bravely (and someone not very much) to the new capitalistic present and became «experienced» designers. Violent and sudden changes in the society (especially in twenty recent years) have naturally led to the disorientation of this very society. In particular, in the questions of such new and such attracting word as «design». A fertile field for «growing» different sort of charlatans and shamans from design have appeared. The author has said a lot about these characters in the previous articles. This material is devoted to the populism in design.

History of packing

First pharmacy is 275 years old
The first Kyiv city pharmacy opened in 1728. And this year it celebrates its 275 anniversary. Today the museum is situated at the pharmacy, in which the considerable exposition is gathered. Among the interesting exhibits the great variety of packs are presented. The examples of application of different types and kinds of packages for packing the pharmaceutical preparations of those times.

Packaging and training of specialists (condition and problems)

Rapid development of packaging induces to necessity of training and retraining of specialists. Wide frame of issues, which solves application of modern packing, determines big and various volume of knowledge which modern specialist should possess. At the same time country has not experience in training such specialists. Since 2002 the Ministry of education of Ukraine approved by its order a new educational and methodical approach 0927 «Publishing-polygraphic business», according to which the training of bachelors, specialists and masters on the speciality «Technology of development, production and decorating of packing» will be carried out. For the time present two chairs, one from the university «Ukraine» and other from Ukrainian printing academy, plan to train specialists on this speciality. Besides the plan is developed according to which it is intended to attract Ukrainian enterprises to the training, sub-edit and publish educational literature, methodical training aids etc.

In September 2003, 9 specialist-packers from different firms and enterprises of Ukraine have passed the training at the international courses in Leipzig on the subject «Packaging and secondary processing of packing». The courses were organized by the Chamber of Commerce of Leipzig, «Dual System of Germany», Packagers Club of Ukraine and magazine «Upakovka». Lectures, practical training which were held by famous in the Europe and in the world scientists, attendance of enterprises gave a lot of new knowledge, modern information about the packaging development and recycling of its waste. Distinctive feature of the training was possibility to discuss, ask questions and change experience. Courses have shown that Ukrainian packers are good prepared and obtained knowledge will help them to solve local problems at their enterprises.

WPO Board Meeting in Egypt

In October 2003 in Cairo, the capital of Egypt, the WPO meeting took place. In the scope of WPO the exhibition РАСК 2003, PLASTEX 2003 was passing. At the WPO board meeting a lot of issues were discussing. The main of them as follows: · problems of young specialists training; · organisation of world students works competition; · publishing of magazine «Packaging Technology International»; · World Star Award 2003. This year of five packages presented by Ukraine, four of them has been recognised as winners.
