Packaging of drinks and aseptics

Technologies, equipment and materials concerning solving a problem of prolongation of a shelf life period of drinks are examined in the article. Technologies of thermal processing of products should occupy predominating position in prolongation process of shelf life period of drinks in comparison with technologies using various preservatives.

Examination of pressure of heterogeneous canned food in different types of tare at sterilization

The pressure in tare is explored at sterilization heterogeneous canned food with a major content of air in a feed stock. The calculated associations for definition of pressure in tare are obtained in view of selection of air during heating up or cooling. Selected air can increase up to 30 % of magnitude of absolute pressure in tare (ð2, ðo). The calculated associations allow to take into account influence of a fill factor of the jars, relation of volumes of rigid fractions and castings in heterogeneous canned food consisting of two and more builders, temperature fillings in necessary cases, modification of volume of the jars at temperature effects and modification of their geometrical shape. At selection of air component magnitude more 16 % of volume of a preserved yield, the pressure in bank with the cooled yield comes nearer to atmospheric.

Microcapsulating in polymeric shells is new trend in the chemical technology, having vastest value for many branches of a national economy of Ukraine (chemical, photographic, food, light, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, aviation, space, agriculture industries and others). Microcapsules with various substances have new properties due to the usage of various film-formers. However it is impossible to relate microcapsulating completely to the area of processing of polymers. In given article some well-proven technological examples of microcapsulating such as formation of double packaging (capsulating of liquid and gaseous fuel and some pharmaceutical preparations) are examined.

Structural optimization of automated lines of packaging production (on the basis of integral test)

In the process of designing packaging automated line there is the problem of selection and functional coordination of the basic, auxiliary and transport equipment which will carry out determined by engineering procedure complex of operations with the specified productivity. For estimation of structure variation the integral index of automated line operating benefits was chosen namely given costs per unit. Directed search is taken as optimization method namely method of «branches and limits». Scheme of optimization synthesis of the structure of automated packaging line is given in the article.

Calculation of design factor of cardboard package with curvilinear contours means of production

Process development and manufacturing facilities of internal multi-profile contours in cardboard package folding boxes by knife cutting became an important achievement in implementation of ways of cuttings-out. Besides development and manufacturing application of means of production of internal curvilinear contours in cardboard folding boxes which enable to realize the cutting out of folding boxes contours of complex configuration along the perimeter is task of not of less importance. The analytical researches of influence of design factor of means to cutting quality are given in the article. It is established by research that for minimization of counter-knife displacement it is necessary to choose an angle of strengthening of the moving knife within the bounds of µ = 80-85°. It is established by the previous experimental researches that using asymmetric displacement of counter-knife promotes smooth incision of the moving knife blade in material, gradual displacement of counter-knife at the time of cutting a cardboard and high manufacturing quality of a curvilinear package contour is provided.

Calculation of pneumatic drives of batch measuring equipment for viscous products

The pneumatic drives with different control systems are of wide spread usage in the new generation of packaging equipment. But there is no current method of calculation and determination of rational parameters of pneumatic drives taking into account flow characteristics of products movement. For eliminating this defect the design procedure of pneumatic drives of measuring equipment for viscous products are given in this article. It is determined that due to some technologic and economic criteria it is inadmissible to rely on intuition or take the pneumatic drive by analogy.

The most difficult issue for the characteristic of large-size containers is their cost. The extensive cost information of large-size polymeric container made in Ukraine shows, that canisters, flasks and cans of different manufacturers have quite wide range of the prices, especially flasks and cans capacity of 40 l. and more. It is shown, that the essential factors influencing the price of the goods are: cost of initial raw material and quantity of forming and added waste products; remuneration of labor; transport and service benefits. However, in ratios between the manufacturer and the customer determining influence on the choice of container is played by its quality and stability of this quality.

Processing of PETF waste products

The basic approaches of PETF packages processing are destruction and secondary processing of polymer waste products. The basic types of destruction are burning, thermal decomposition; chemical decomposition; radiodestruction. Secondary processing of polymer waste products includes such basic stages as collection and sorting of polymer raw materials; preparation of polymer waste products for processing; processing of polymer. The analysis of all methods of PETF waste processing and the present condition of processing of polymers in Ukraine is given in the article.

From the technologies to new materials

Packaging industry develops in high rates. Wide development of supermarkets chain promotes this. Flexible packaging of single-layer and composite materials took special development. Public company “Ukrplastic” is the leader in manufacturing of such materials in Ukraine. Choice of technology at the plant begins from market studying. The main task is to produce innovative flexible packaging materials, which would reduce the expenses of goods manufacturers during packaging production.

Packaging for cosmetics is important market instrument

The cosmetics market of Ukraine constantly grows. In these terms, the attention to packaging for cosmetic goods is quite justified. Packaging is the connecting chain between the manufacturer of production and its buyer. However, if packaging is simply external image for the buyer, then for the manufacturer it is the whole complex of factors, parameters, characteristics (raw materials, shape, design) which not only distinguish one package from another, but also, the most important, influence the decision of the buyer to purchase the goods. Package for cosmetics will change under influence of society, market, technologies. Thereupon it is important to allocate the basic making of “effective” packaging, which most probably will execute its main function - to promote sales of cosmetic goods.

The article is written in the form of review to the material by A.B. Zilonov and G.P. Orlov published in the magazine “Upakovka”, ¹ 6, 2003. Some inaccuracies, especially in the data on packing materials manufacturing are noted. Analysis and classifications of engineering process elements which influence the quality of foil stamping are given in the article and the transition mechanism of foil layers to the material on which the stamp is applying. Researches carried out by the author have shown that model and type of stamp, foil and material on which stamping is being applied influence the process of foil stamping on labeled products.

Ceramic chronicle or once more about Trypol culture

It is hard to find one more in the history of civilization so as its development phases, internal organization, economics, foreign affairs, literature would be studying by the articles of potter masters found during diggings, by ceramic vessels, pots, dishes and statuettes, as it took place with Trypol culture discovered 100 years ago. The assortment of Trypol crockery in the second half of VI-th-first half IV century B.C. counts from 10 to 30 main types. One can determine crockery types by its designation: container, kitchen, tableware, religious. Today Trypol culture deserves to be described and studied as important part of Ancient Europe.
